Working title: ‘The decentring of the human in Jan Patočka's asubjective phenomenology’
The accusation of critical posthumanism and speculative realism that phenomenology falls prey to subject-centred thinking, which favours hierarchies and mechanisms of domination both in the interpersonal sphere and between humans and non-humans, is to be countered by means of a detailed examination of Jan Patočka's philosophy.
The guiding idea of the project is to demonstrate Patočka's concept of an asubjective phenomenology as profitable for the description of reality. In this sense, the aim is to demonstrate that neither epistemological nor ethical anthropocentrism is inherent in his thinking and that it also is not dependent the predominance of a specific, Western-influenced image of the human.
