Giovanna Caruso (*1985) studied philosophy at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome (Italy) from 2006 to 2008. After an Erasmus stay at the Humboldt University in Berlin, she completed her degree in philosophy there in 2011. From 2013 to 2016, she completed her doctorate at the University of Koblenz-Landau, Landau campus, as part of the interdisciplinary graduate school ‘Herausforderung Leben - Gestaltung, Kreativität, Bildung’ with a thesis on the significance of art for life based on the thinking of Martin Heidegger, Walter Benjamin and Theodor W. Adorno.
In the 2017/18 winter semester, she worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Koblenz-Landau, Landau campus. From 2018 to 2020, she worked at the same institute as a habilitation fellow and lecturer. Since November 2020, she has been a research assistant at the Institute of Philosophy, Department of Aesthetics and Cultural Philosophy, at the University of Greifswald and since December 2023, she has been leader of the research group “Structures of the Givenness. Phenomenological Approaches to the Entanglements of Object, Nature and Human Being”.
